The science of understanding our nature is the science of Tridosha. Tridosha defines the three fundamental principles which govern the function of our bodies on the physical and emotional level. The three energies are known a Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Each individual has a unique balance of all three of these energies. As per Ayurveda, imbalance in Tridoshas is termed as disease and restoring the balance is health. By understanding our own unique nature (Dosha), we can begin to understand how we interact with our environment and thus make choices that will lead us toward greater health and lifestyle.
Each Dosha is responsible for regulating an essential aspect of organism function, connected to a recognized definition of life: Vata, Input/Output (homeostasis); Pitta, Turnover (negative entropy production); Kapha, Storage (inheritable structure). Different complementary approaches have been proposed to understand and validate the science of Dosha: factor analysis of human physiology; systems analysis of organism function; correlation of Dosha and genomic variations; and correlation of Dosha and cellular function. If you need further details about these scientific studies, I'll be glad to share.
